Magical Christmas Wedding in Connecticut
Updated: 6 days ago
When Autumn first inquired and said that her and Nick's wedding was going to be a "not tacky Christmas wedding" I was so friggin excited and just knew that I HAD to work with them. I'm a huge fan of holidays, especially Christmas, and between the less expensive off-season rates, the cooler weather (no sweating through hair and makeup), and the magical decor, a Christmas or winter wedding is definitely something to consider. And New England has some of the most beautiful little spots for Christmas cheer and romantic winter weddings.
Autumn and Nick were one of many couples to have their wedding plans affected by the panini. They legally wed the summer prior and finally got to have their big party wedding day this past December, 2021, and party they did.

The day began with a very relaxed Autumn hanging out with her best girlfriends in one of their parents' gorgeous industrial lofted apartment in the center of Guilford. They had quite the spread of food and drinks, stunning natural light for photos, and of course a giant Christmas tree with presents all wrapped up underneath the tree. And those details - come on now. Between the crisp white invitations and the beautiful evergreen and wine red florals it was exactly as Autumn envisioned it - a perfectly elegant Christmas vibe. Not tacky whatsoever!
Her dress couldn't have been more perfect for a winter wedding - designed by Maggie Sottero and adorned with delicate little pearls all over the bodice and sleeves. She really looked like a Disney princess. Speaking of Disney princesses, Autumn is also a huge fan of Disney, like Evan and I are, so when her friend suggested writing Nick's name on the bottom of her Vans I was instantly obsessed. How cute is that? And we even had the sweetest little first look with Autumn and her two dads - biological and adoptive.
Meanwhile, Evan was over at Nick's parents' house getting ready with his guys. They all looked dapper AF in their black tuxes and custom nerdy cufflinks. What a perfect groomsmen gift, right?
Then, it came time for their ceremony at St. George Church, which was a photographer's dream church to shoot in. The pews surrounded the altar on 3 sides, which allowed us to move around and capture some pretty great angles of the ceremony that churches typically don't allow for. And of course, we were spotted by Autumn who kept making faces at us. We love how fun our couples are!
Afterwards, we walked across the street to the Guilford town green and found the most beautiful tree that still had some yellow leaves on it, and with the golden light coming through the branches it made for especially stunning family photos.
And once the wedding party took off, Evan and I wandered around the green with Autumn and Nick capturing more beautiful golden light and their incredible love for one another before heading over to the reception venue.
Their venue was decked out with Christmas decor and twinkling lights, creating the perfect winter wonderland. And obviously we had to take advantage of the gazebo to capture a Twilight moment by playing Flightless Bird American Mouth while Autumn and Nick slow danced together. It was a moment that melted my teenage heart.
Their reception decor continued the Christmas vibes with romantic candles, wreaths for centerpieces and this vibrant red lighting that made for some funky dancing pics. They ate, they drank, and they danced their asses off. Enjoy the slow decent into madness as the night went on.
